Mould-blown Glass Vase by Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala, Finland
This beautiful vase belongs to Timo Sarpaneva's 'Novitas' series designed for Iittala, Finland. The Novitas range was in production between 1965-69 and features minimal forms of varying sizes either in green or amber mould-blown glass.
Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) was a Finnish designer and sculptor, who rose to great international fame in the 1950s for his ability to transform everyday objects into art. Sarpaneva was a master of many materials, but it was glass that captured his imagination the most due to how it interacted with light. Notably, it was Sarpaneva, who designed the iconic Iittala logo that the glassworks continues to use today!
This piece is signed 'TS' on the underside. It is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, discolouration or repairs.
It looks fantastic paired with other models from the series! View here
