Mould-blown Glass Vases by Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala, Finland

These stunning vases belong to Timo Sarpaneva's 'Novitas' series designed for Iittala, Finland. The Novitas range was in production between 1965-69 and features minimal forms of varying sizes either in green or amber mould-blown glass.

Both pieces are signed 'TS' on the underside and the larger piece retains its original label. The smaller piece measures 16cm high with a 14cm diameter and weighs 0.9kg. The larger piece measures 23cm high with a 16cm diameter and weighs 1.5kg. Each vase is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, discolouration or repairs.

Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) was a Finnish designer and sculptor, who rose to great international fame in the 1950s for his ability to transform everyday objects into art. Sarpaneva was a master of many materials, but it was glass that captured his imagination the most due to how it interacted with light. Notably, it was Sarpeneva, who designed the iconic Iittala logo that the glassworks continues to use today!
