Cut Glass Vase by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta

This original Modernist vase features super solid hand-formed cut clear crystal with irregular faceted sides. The movement that this creates in the vase is stunning and the light interacts with the design beautifully.

This vase impressively weighs over 3kg and is a testament to Lindstrand’s experimentation with the optic possibilities that cut glass allowed. The model LS2770 design dates from the 1966 Kosta catalogue and production continued into the '70s. Vicke Lindstrand retired in 1973 and Kosta was renamed in 1976 ‘Kosta Boda’.

Engraved on the underside of this vase is ‘Kosta (maker) 4 (designation for vases in 1970s) 2770 (production number)’. It is in excellent condition (outstanding for age) with no heavy scratches, notches, cracks, discolouration or repairs.

This piece featured on the cover of the well known book 'Scandinavian Glass, 1930-2000: Smoke & Ice' by Leslie Anne Piña and Lorenzo Vigier.
