Hand-blown Sommerso Glass Vase by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta
This model was designed by Vicke Lindstrand in the 60s while he was Artistic Director at Kosta glassworks. It features solid clear crystal with a beautiful two tone blue underlay.
Vicke Lindstrand’s work was largely undervalued during his lifetime – in fact, at one point his work was even rejected by the Design in Scandinavia exhibition committee. This attitude was largely due to Lindstrand’s tendency to courageously experiment with both glass and ceramics in an innovative way that at times diverged from Swedish mid-century trends.
Engraved on the underside of this vase is ‘Kosta (maker) LH (Lindstrand + hand-formed) 1825 (production number/year)’. This heavy piece is in good vintage condition with no notches, discolouration, repairs or cracks. There is some visible surface wear commensurate with age and use.
This vase looks fantastic paired with other models from the same series.
