Handblown Glass Vase by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta

This piece features super solid handblown cut crystal in an asymmetrical design with a biomorphic shaped cavity and cutting on one side that is reflected in the whole piece. The design is a fantastic example of Lindstrand's experimentation with the optical possibilities that glass offers.

The series 'Contrast by Asymmetry' was designed by Vicke Lindstrand in the 50s. Notably, it featured in a 1957 exhibition by design retailers Georg Jensen and Bonniers in New York and received outstanding praise by The New York Times.  This vase is also featured in Decorative Art Year Book by Studio Vista published 1958 & I have included an image.

Engraved on the underside of this vase is ‘LS (Lindstrand + sanded glass) 2648 (production number)’ This vase is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration.
