Handblown Glass Carafe by Trelleborg Glasbruk, Sweden
This heavy handblown carafe with stopper features transparent mint-green crackle glass. The beautiful effect resembles cracked ice and requires quite a lot of skill by the glassblower to create.
Trelleborg's glassworks was founded in 1919 by Johan Kock to manufacture glass bottles and later shifted into decorative glass. At its height, the factory, which included furniture manufacturing, had 150 employees. Unfortunately, the business faced financial difficulties after the second world war due to a shortage of raw materials and closed in 1956.
The body of this piece is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, discolouration or repairs. The stopper functions perfectly, but has some age related wear that I have included in the images.
