Mould-blown glass vase by Taru Syrjänen for Nuutajärvi Notsjö, Finland
This vase belongs to glass artist Taru Syrjänen's (1953 -) Sail series, which she designed for Nuutajärvi Notsjö, Finland in 1988. The striking minimalist geometric form features solid mould-blown amber and clear glass.
Syrjänen worked as a freelance designer for Nuutajärvi glassworks from 1986. The Sails design was inspired from the time she spent in the London Maritime Museum while completing her studies in England. The series was selected by the New York Museum of Modern Art for their sales collection.
This piece carries its original Nuutajarvi label. It is in excellent condition (outstanding for age) with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration.
