14k Gold & Pearl Pendant by Olli Auvinen for N. Westerback, Finland
This elegant Modernist pendant in solid 14k gold features an open sphere that reveals a floating white pearl. It was designed by Olli Auvinen and beautifully handcrafted by N. Westerback in 1968.
Olli Auvinen (1933-2007), pioneer of Modern Finnish jewellery design and distinguished Master Goldsmith—a title reserved only for expert jewellers in Finland—initiated his career at G. Buchert in 1949 before advancing to design for Alppikultaan. In the 1960s, he crafted jewellery for N. Westerback and began teaching at the Finnish Goldsmith School, eventually becoming its director.
This pendant is fully stamped with the Finnish hallmarks: Olli Auvinen motif, 'NW' (maker), '585' (14k gold), crown motif (Finland), Helsinki motif & 'P7' (year).
It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age) with a perfect pearl.
The chain is not included.
