Cast Crystal Lamp by Olle Alberius for Orrefors

This stunning table lamp designed by Olle Alberius (1926–1993) features solid clear cast crystal with chrome fittings. The incredibly heavy sculptural base (over 5kg!) has a lovely organic moulded quality - making this lamp a beautiful feature in any room! 

Alberius had already established himself as a notable ceramic designer at Rörstrand when he joined Orrefors glassworks in 1971. His body of work utilised a variety of traditional glass making techniques with crystal being his preferred medium. The designer is considered one of Sweden's leading ceramic and glass artists of the 20th century. 

This piece still carries its original label and is engraved on the underside 'Orrefors (maker) AD (designer) & 2214 (model number)'. It is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration. 

The lamp functions perfectly. As it has a European plug (type C), an adapter is required. It takes a standard E27 lightbulb. 

The lamp shade pictured is not included, although it can easily be fitted with a standard cotton or linen shade.
