14k Gold & Chalcedony Necklace by Olavi Nupponen for Kaunis Koru
This truly beautiful Modernist necklace features 14k gold that holds six pale blue chalcedony cabochon bullets. The design is both elegant and bold, making this a beautiful statement piece of outstanding craftsmanship.
It was designed by Olavi Nupponen (1948-1972) for Kaunis Koru in 1961. Kanis Koru, founded in 1956 and acquired in 1989, always acknowledged artist's designs with their initials.
The necklace is fully stamped with the Finnish hallmarks: 'ONU' (designer), crown motif (Finland), '585' (14k gold), city motif (Helsinki), 'H7' (year) and 'KK' (maker). The clasp is also stamped with the crown motif (Finland), '585' & city motif (Helsinki).
It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age). The stones remain whole and smooth, and sit firmly in their settings. The clasp functions perfectly.
