Mould-blown Glass Vase by Nanny Still for Riihimäen Lasi
The iconic Grapponia series was designed by Nanny Still (1926–2009) in 1968 for Finnish glassworks Riihimäen Lasi. Like this piece, the other objects in the series feature mould blown glass with a raised circular relief pattern and geometric form.
Nanny Still (1926 – 2009) was an incredible 20th century designer and is celebrated for her contribution to the Modern Finnish decorative arts movement. For Still, glass was a living medium that could be both whimsical and radiant. She chose not to draw a clear line between art and functional glass but rather to create forms that embodied both aspects. Her body of work from the ‘50s and ‘60s featured enduring, elegant, and imaginative pieces that were highly innovative and commercially successful.
This piece is in excellent condition with no notches, cracks or repairs.
