18k Gold & Spectrolite Necklace by Kaunis Koru & N. Westerback, Helsinki

This beautiful necklace features a distinctive Modernist pendant composed of four large round spectrolite cabochons set within solid 18K gold. The stones display deep blue-grey tones with subtle flashes of colour, beautifully complemented by the warmth of the gold. The pendant is suspended from a fine mid-century 18K gold chain.

The design closely corresponds with a documented 1964 Kaunis Koru 18k gold and spectrolite pendant. Based on this close design correspondence, together with the intact Finnish hallmarks and Swedish import mark on this piece, it has been attributed to jewellery house Kaunis Koru.

The pendant is stamped with Finnish hallmarks: indistinct maker's mark, crown motif (Finland), '750' (18k gold), Helsinki motif & 'L7' (year). The Swedish import stamp is also present.

The loop of the chain is stamped with the Finnish hallmarks: 'NW' (maker - registered to N. Westerback 1897 - 1969), crown motif (Finland) & '750' (18k gold).

The necklace is in excellent vintage condition, outstanding for its age. The spectrolites remain whole and smooth and sit firmly within their settings. The clasp functions perfectly.

The pendant measures approximately 20 × 20mm. The chain is 43cm.
