14K Gold & Rock Crystal Earrings by Leevi Nygren for Kaunis Koru, Helsinki

These beautifully crafted Modernist earrings are formed in solid 14K gold, with a clean geometric design meticulously set with nine faceted rock crystals. The considered arrangement of the stones and finely worked gold setting demonstrate the skill and precision of the jeweller, while the rock crystals catch the light with a subtle, shimmering effect.

They were designed by Helsinki-based jeweller Leevi Nygren, whose workshop was registered from 1951 until 1986, for the renowned Finnish jewellery house Kaunis Koru in 1966.

Both original backings are fully hallmarked with the Finnish hallmarks: 'LN' (designer), crown motif (Finland), '585' (14K gold), the Helsinki city mark, 'N7' (year), and 'KK' (Kaunis Koru).

The pair are in excellent vintage condition, outstanding for their age, with strong, secure posts and firmly fastening original backings. One post has a very slight bend; please see photo 5. This does not affect the form or fit.  

They measure 13 × 13mm, with proportions that give them a striking presence on the ear while remaining easy to wear.
