14k Gold & Ethical Alexandrite Ring by Kulta ja Hopea Oy, Finland

This beautiful mid-century ring features a lab-created alexandrite that is elegantly framed by a leaf motif in solid 14k gold. It was designed and handcrafted by jeweller Kulta ja Hopea Oy (registered between 1950-1982) in Turku, 1953. 

The stone is a true testament of innovative mid-century trends! During this period there was a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the new technology to grow gems, in particular colour changing stones. Many of these stones were treated with as much care and reverence as natural gems. This stunning alexandrite exhibits both warm purple and cool blue-green hues depending on the angle or type of light it is exposed to.

This ring is fully stamped with the Finnish hallmarks: K-Ho/y motif (maker), crown motif (Finland), '585' (14k gold), Turku motif (city) & 'Z6' (year). 

It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age). The stone (12mm X 10mm) sits firmly in the setting and the band retains its original shape well.

The ring is a large size. It is an AU size S 1/2 (EU 59.5 & US 9.25) with a 19.3mm internal diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. This band can be resized.
