This elegant ring features solid 18k gold set with a richly faceted amethyst in a striking open sculptural mount. The elevated setting allows light to pass through the stone from multiple angles, enhancing the amethyst’s deep violet tones while highlighting the ring’s bold modernist silhouette. 

Designed by renowned Swedish jeweller Karl-Ingemar Johansson, the piece beautifully reflects his distinctive sculptural style. It was handcrafted in 1970 by the Gothenburg atelier he shared with his wife Cecilia. Johansson usually worked in silver, making this gold piece a very rare example of his work.

The ring is fully stamped with the Swedish hallmarks 'KIJ' (maker), Gothenburg motif, three crowns motif (Sweden), '18k' (material), 'U9' (year) and the iconic 'K I Johansson' signature.

It is in excellent condition (outstanding for age) with a perfect amethyst that sits firmly in the setting. The band retains its original shape. 

This ring is a small size. It is an AU size J (EU 49 & US 4.75) with a 15.49mm diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. The band can be resized.
