Handmade 18k Gold & Amethyst ring by Karl-Ingemar Johansson, Gothenburg

This stunning Modernist ring of outstanding craftsmanship features solid 18k gold with a thick band that holds a beautiful large facetted amethyst in a raised setting. It was designed and made by the incredible artist Karl-Ingemar Johansson (1927 - 1999) in 1970. Johansson usually worked in silver, making this gold piece a very rare example of his work.

The ring is fully stamped with the Swedish hallmarks 'KIJ' (maker), Gothenburg motif, three crowns motif (Sweden), '18k' (material), 'U9' (year) and the iconic 'K I Johansson' signature.

This ring is in excellent condition (outstanding for age would be an understatement!) with a perfect amethyst that sits firmly in the setting. It retains its original shape. 

This ring is a size J (EU 49 & US 4.75) with a 15.49mm diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size.
