Hand-blown Glass Vase by Joseph Hospodka for Chřibská glassworks, Czechoslovakia
This stunning heavy organic shaped vase features solid hand-blown crystal in a twisted form of vibrant raspberry and burnt orange tones. Its characteristics are typical of mid-century Czech glass production - a time when Czech glass artists were truly pushing the boundaries of glass design from behind the Iron Curtain.
This piece was designed by Joseph Hospodka, who was head designer at Chřibská from 1958 until 1970. Chřibská (which was founded in 1414) was nationalised around the 1950s and became part of the Borske Sklo National Corporation.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, discolouration or repairs.
