Hand-blown Glass Jug with Glasses by Jacob E. Bang for Kastrup
These original Modernist pieces were designed by Jacob E. Bang (1899 - 1965), who was one of Denmark's greatest glass designers. Bang, who was brother of the equally talented ceramist Arne Bang, worked as an Artistic Consultant for Kastrup glassworks from 1957 until 1965. In the year of his passing, Kastrup merged with the well-known Holmegaard glassworks.
These models were designed in 1957. They feature minimal forms of hand-blown white opaline glass that have a very beautiful translucency and opalescence quality. Each piece is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration.
The jug (model 7279) still retains its original rattan grip. It measures 24cm high with a 12cm diameter.
The glasses (model 4529) have solid weighted bases. They measure 11.5cm high with a 5cm diameter.
