18k Gold & Natural Diamonds Ring by Hjalmar Edvard Fagerroos, Finland
This incredibly beautiful antique ring features 18k gold that frames an old-cut yellow pear shaped diamond surrounded by fourteen smaller grey old-cut diamonds. It was designed and hand-crafted by Hjalmar Edvard Fagerroos in 1906, who was registered under the maker's mark 'HjF' in Helsinki between 1883 and 1916.
This ring is fully stamped with the Finnish hallmarks 'HjF' (designer/maker), crown motif (Finland), '785' (18k gold), Helsinki motif & 'A5' (year). These stamps appear dark in the photo but are clear using a jeweller's loupe.
It is in excellent antique condition (outstanding for age) and the band retains its original shape. The stones sit firmly in their settings and have been tested. The centre diamond is approximately 0.41ct and measures 6.23mm by 5.45mm. The smaller diamonds are each between .01 and .02ct.
This ring is a medium size. It is an AU size M (EU 52.5 & US 6.25) with an inner diameter of 16.7mm. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. The band can be resized.
