Mould-blown glass vase by Henrik Koivula for Humppila, Finland
This stunning vase features heavy mould-blown clear and amber cased glass. Designed in the 1970s, the fun curvy form has textured sides that capture the light beautifully.
Brutalism emerged in the 1950’s and grew out of the early 20th century Modernist movement. The term comes from the French words ‘beton brut’, which means raw concrete. This is quite fitting given the characteristics of Brutalism – rough, unfinished surfaces, unusual shapes, heavy looking materials and straight lines.
In excellent condition, this vase has no notches, repairs, cracks or discolouration. It is signed on the underside ‘Henrik Koivula Humppila Finland’
