Blown Glass Vase by Helena Tynell for Riihimäen Lasi Oy

This beautiful example of Tynell's work belongs to her Kukkainen (or Flowers) series, which she designed for Riihimäen Lasi Oy in the early 1970s. The playful design features an abstract flower form in multi-coloured blown glass. The subtle use of transparent colours within the upper layer of glass creates beautiful depth and luminosity

Helena Tynell (1918 – 2016) was an internationally recognised Finnish glass designer and is considered a pioneer of Finnish glass art. She is known for her experimentation with abstract forms as well as for her glassblowing and casting techniques.  

It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some very light visible clouding at the base commensurate with age and use. 

The vase is signed on the underside 'Helena Tynell Riihimäen Lasi Oy'.
