18k Gold & Ethical Sapphire Ring by Hedbergs Guld, Dalsjöfors

This original Modernist ring features handcrafted solid 18k gold with a beautiful facetted lab-created purple sapphire in a raised setting. It was designed and handcrafted in the small town of Dalsjöfors in Sweden by Hedbergs Guld (1964 - 1982) in 1968. 

The stone is a true testament of innovative mid-century trends! During this period there was a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the new technology to grow gems, in particular colour changing sapphires. Many of these stones were treated with as much care and reverence as natural gems. This lovely sapphire exhibits both warm purple and cool violet blue hues. 

This ring is fully stamped with the Swedish hallmarks: 'HSG' (maker), 'D' (town) three crown motif (Sweden), '18k' (material) & 'S9' (year). It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age) with perfect sapphire. The stone has a 11mm diameter and sits firmly in the setting 

This ring is a small/medium size. It is an AU size L 1/2 (EU 51 & US 6) with an internal diameter of 16.41 mm. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. The band can be resized.
