Blown Glass Vase by Gunnel Nyman for Nuutajarvi Notsjo

Gunnel Nyman (1909 - 1948) was a true innovator of Finnish glass design and a forerunner of the Modern glass movement. Her legacy is a fantastic celebration of the emergence of female designers during the mid-century period.

Nyman was a master of beautifully capturing light and colour. Her design is particularly recognised for its minimal organic forms that echo a feminine quality, incorporating timeless abstract and subtle elements.

This stunningly beautiful spherical vase features handblown solid amber & clear crystal with controlled internal bullicante. The vase is signed ‘G Nyman Nuutajarvi Notsjo’ in acid pen on the underside. It is in excellent condition (outstanding for age), with no obvious scratches, notches, repairs, cracks or discolouration.
