These vases were designed by Göte Augustsson (1917 - 2004) and feature beautiful textured forest green mould blown glass. When hot glass entered the moulds, it actually burnt them in the process. This meant that the surface of each vase varied and that production costs were relatively high as the moulds had to be replaced after they deteriorated. As you can see, the relief created by this technique reacts beautifully with the light.
Ruda glassworks was established in 1920 and closed in 1972. Göte Augustsson was Artistic Director at the glassworks from the '50s onwards. He is well known for his brutalist inspired designs that incorporate hieroglyph-like patterns.
The smallest vase/candle holder still carries its original label. Both of the pieces are in excellent condition with no obvious scratches, notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration.
