Handblown Glass Vase by Gino Cenedese for Cenedese Vetri, Murano
This beautifully large and heavy octagonal vase features transparent handblown Murano glass in the 'Scavo' technique. It was produced by Vetreria Gino Cenedese around the 1960s.
Scavo means excavation in English. The technique involves applying different substances to the surface of the glass, which when heated fuse to create an effect similar to weathering, thereby imitating glass from an archeological excavation.
This piece is in excellent condition (outstanding for age) with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration. It is signed 'Cenedese' on the underside and carries its original label.
