Murano Glass Vase by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini & CO., Murano
This beautiful iridescent dusty-rose Murano vase is an early example of the iconic 'Fazzoletto' (handkerchief) series designed by the famous Fulvio Bianconi (1915 – 1996) in collaboration with Paolo Venini.
Bianconi used new and old Murano glassmaking techniques to create visually stunning works that combined both movement and colour. He greatly contributed to Murano’s reputation as a place of outstanding artistic glass production. Today, his work can be admired in a number of museums worldwide, most notably at MoMA.
On the underside is the three lined Venini acid stamp 'Venini Murano Italia', which indicates mid-century execution. It was used by Venini from around 1945 to 1965. The obvious grooves from the glassmaking process indicate that this is early production (see photos 1, 3 & 5).

This piece is in average vintage condition with no notches, repairs or discolouration. Unlike the obvious manufacturing lines present, there is a fine hairline crack on the inner surface of the vase (see photo 7). With careful handling, this is unlikely to spread. The outer surface remains smooth and the piece is structurally stable.
