Murano Glass Vase by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini & CO., Murano
This gorgeous incamiciato glass vase in periwinkle blue belongs to the iconic 'Fazzoletto' (handkerchief) series designed by the famous Fulvio Bianconi (1915 – 1996) in collaboration with Paolo Venini. The iconic design has inspired many, been copied by others and even continues to be produced today - setting this genuine mid-century piece apart.
Bianconi used new and old Murano glassmaking techniques to create visually stunning works that combined both movement and colour. He greatly contributed to Murano’s reputation as a place of outstanding artistic glass production. Today, his work can be admired in a number of museums worldwide, most notably at MoMA.
On the underside is the three lined Venini acid stamp 'Venini Murano Italia', which indicates mid-century execution. It was used by Venini from around 1945 to 1965.
