Rare Handblown Glass Vases by Ernest Gordon Adsetts for Afors

These original mid-century vases feature solid clear handblown crystal with charcoal black underlays and impressive controlled internal bullicante. The condition of these vases is remarkable with just some minor scratching on the underside due to shelf life. 

Sheffield-born Ernest Gordon Adsetts was a leading figure in the internationally renowned Swedish glass industry at a time when ‘Scandinavian Design' was becoming celebrated in the world. Adsetts designed for the famous Swedish Kosta glassworks with Vicke Lindstrand, then subsequently later that year for the Åfors glassworks between 1954 - 1961.

Engraved on the underside of each vase is ‘Afors (maker) GH (Gordon + hand-formed) 144 or 426 (production numbers) Ernest Gordon (designer)’
