14k Gold & Smoky Quartz Ring by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
This elegant original Modernist ring features a beautiful faceted smoky quartz that is framed by a solid 14k gold three-leaf clover design. It was designed by the famous Elis Kauppi and made by his workshop Kupittaan Kulta in 1973.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
This ring is fully stamped with the anvil motif (maker), heart motif (Finland) '585' (14k gold) town motif (Turku/Abo) & U7 (year).
It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age). The stone sits firmly in the setting and the band retains its original shape well.
The band is medium sized. It is an AU M 1/2 (EU 52 & US 6.5) with a 16.92mm inner diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. This ring can be resized
