Silver & Rose Quartz Ring by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
This eye-catching Modernist ring features solid silver that holds a polished rose quartz ball that turns within the claw setting. It was designed by the famous Elis Kauppi and handcrafted by his workshop Kupittaan Kulta in 1964.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
The ring is fully stamped with the Finnish hallmarks - anvil motif (maker), crown motif (Finland), '916H' (silver purity), Turku/Abo motif & 'L7' (year).
It is in excellent vintage condition with a perfect rose quartz. The band, 7mm wide, has minor expected wear commensurate with age and use. The stone and setting sits 13mm high from the band.
This band is a medium/large size. It is an AU size P 1/2 (EU 57 & US 8) with a 18.44mm internal diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size.
