14k Gold & Rock Crystal Ring by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
This show-stopping solid 14K gold ring centres a luminous faceted rock crystal in an intricate, open setting, allowing the stone to catch and reflect light from every angle. The sculptural claws extend around the crystal like rays, while the geometric openwork beneath creates a striking starburst effect. A substantial, sculpted gold band completes the design, giving the ring its bold and distinctive presence.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
This ring is fully stamped with the Finnish hallmarks: anvil motif (maker), '585' (14k gold) & 'Finland' (country).
It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age). The beautiful stone (approx. 17mm diameter) sits securely in the setting. The band retains its original shape.
The band is a medium size. It is an AU size N (EU 53.8 & US 6.75) with a 17.1mm internal diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. The band can be resized.
