Sterling Silver & Spectrolite Ring by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
This striking Modernist ring showcases a rectangular raw spectrolite set within a bold sterling silver frame. Designed by renowned Finnish jeweler Elis Kauppi and handcrafted by his workshop, Kupittaan Kulta, the piece reflects the clean lines and sculptural elegance of Scandinavian design.
Spectrolite is a rare and exceptionally hard variety of labradorite found only in Finland. Celebrated for its luminous flashes of color, it is believed to be a powerful protective stone that enhances intuition, deepens spiritual awareness, and inspires inner clarity and transformation.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
The inner band is stamped with the anvil motif (maker), 'Sterling' & 'Finland'. Also present is the UK importer's stamp.
It is in excellent vintage condition. The stone measures 18mm long and sits firmly in the setting.
The ring is medium sized. It is an AU O 1/2 (EU 56 & US 7.5) with a 17.73mm inner diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, measure a ring you currently wear to see if it's a similar size.
