14k Gold & Pearls Pendant by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
This beautiful Modernist pendant features a geometric pattern of solid 14k gold that holds four white pearls. It was designed by the famous Elis Kauppi and made by his workshop Kupittaan Kulta.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
This pendant is stamped on the bail with the Finnish hallmarks: anvil motif (maker), crown motif (Finland) & '585' (14k gold).
It is in excellent vintage condition. The pearls sit firmly in their settings.
