14k Gold & Rock Crystal Pendant by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
This beautifully crafted original Modernist pendant features a geometric pattern of solid 14k gold that frames a facetted clear rock crystal. It was designed by the famous Elis Kauppi and made by his workshop Kupittaan Kulta in 1964.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
This pendant is fully stamped with the anvil motif (maker), crown motif (Finland), '585' (14k gold), town motif (Turku/Abo) & 'L7' (year).
It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age). The stone sits firmly in the setting.
The chain is not included but a chain can be easily threaded through. Loop has a 3.5mm diameter.
