14k Gold & Moonstone Pendant by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
This beautiful original Modernist pendant features solid 14k gold with a polished moonstone bullet. It was designed by the famous Elis Kauppi and handcrafted by his workshop Kupittaan Kulta.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
The inside of the pendant is stamped with the Finnish hallmarks: anvil motif (maker), crown motif (Finland), 585 (14k gold) & town motif (Turku/Abo).
It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age) with a perfect moonstone.
