14k Gold & Diamond Earrings by Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta, Finland
These elegant Modernist earrings are crafted in solid 14k gold, each showcasing a raised diamond set in white gold—an exquisite balance of delicate craftsmanship and clean, sculptural design. They were designed by the famous Elis Kauppi and made by his workshop Kupittaan Kulta in 1960s.
Elis Kauppi (1924-2004) is known for his sophisticated Modernist designs that incorporated stones native to Finland. His innovative approach that centred on simplicity and form, put Finland at the forefront of jewellery design during the mid-century period. Kauppi's work has been exhibited internationally, including Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Pforzheim Jewellery Museum in Germany.
The original butterflies are stamped with the Finnish hallmarks: anvil motif (designer/maker), heart motif (Finland) & '585' (14k gold).
Both earrings are in excellent vintage condition—remarkable for their age. The stones are secure in their settings, the posts remain straight, and the original backs are intact. The diamonds have been professionally tested.
