Hand-blown Glass Vase by Elis Bergh for Kosta
This elegant piece was designed by Elis Bergh for Kosta glassworks. It features beautiful solid smokey olive transparent crystal with applied handles and footed base.
Elis Bergh (1881 - 1954) was a Swedish architect and designer that became well known for his role as chief designer at Kosta and later as Artistic Director, which was a position he held between 1928 and 1950. Bergh’s very concise and controlled geometric forms were very different to those later produced by his successor - the famous Vicke Lindstrand.
Engraved on the underside of this vase is ‘B (designer) H (technique) 1525 ( model)’. The signature indicates 1950s production. It is in excellent condition with no notches, discolouration, cracks or repairs. There is some light visible surface wear commensurate with age and use.
