Handblown crystal vase by studio Daum Nancy, France
This very beautiful heavy biomorphic vase features handblown transparent citrine crystal with internal bullicante. The organic ovoid form has two large hand-formed lobbed handles and a polished pontil.
Importantly, this piece is signed 'Daum Nancy France' with the iconic Lorraine cross near the base. As this was difficult to photograph, I have included a copy of it in the images. This signature dates to 1926.
The Daum family established Daum studio in Nancy, France during the Art Nouveau period in 1878. Under the Daum brothers, Auguste and Antonin, the glass studio became one of the most prestigious in France and successfully transitioned to the Art Deco period.
This vase is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration. It has some minor visible surface wear commensurate with age and use.
