Hand-blown Glass Bottle Vase by Gino Cenedese for Cenedese Vetri, Murano
This beautiful bottle with stopper features transparent hand-blown Murano glass in the 'Scavo' technique. It was produced by Vetreria Gino Cenedese around the 1960s.
Scavo means excavation in English. The technique involves applying different substances to the surface of the glass, which when heated fuse to create an effect similar to weathering, thereby imitating glass from an archeological excavation.
This piece is in excellent condition (outstanding for age) with no notches, cracks or repairs. There is some minor surface discolouration that could have occurred during the glassmaking process (see close up image).
It is signed 'Cenedese' on the underside and still carries its original label.
