14k Gold & Citrine Ring by Boris Sarvala for N. Westerback, Finland
This elegant Modernist ring features handcrafted solid 14k gold that frames a large faceted lemon citrine in a beautiful raised setting. This special piece was designed by Boris Sarvala for N. Westerback Oy, Helsinki in 1965.
Boris Sarvela, born in Russia, was a well known master goldsmith registered in Helsinki under the maker's mark 'BS' from 1948 until 1974. Notably, he taught and was friends with the famous jewellery designer Pekka Piekäinen.
The band is fully stamped with the Finnish hallmarks 'BS' (designer), 'NW' (maker), '585' (14k gold), crown motif (Finland), boat motif (Helsinki) & 'M7' (year).
It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age). The lovely stone measures 19mm X 19mm X 10mm. It sits firmly in the setting, which together measure 12mm high from the band. The 6mm wide band retains its original shape. There is an internal engraving.
The ring is a size O (EU 55 & US 7) with a 17.5mm internal diameter. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. This band can be resized.
Please note that the stone is little lighter than in the photos.
