Hand blown Glass Vase by Bohuslav Beránek for Škrdlovice, Czechoslovakia
This stunning large organic shaped vase features solid hand-blown crystal of translucent pink and orange tones. Its characteristics are typical of 1950s Škrdlovice production - a time when Czech glass artists were truly pushing the boundaries of glass design from behind the Iron Curtain. This model '5143' was designed by Bohuslav Beránek (1901-1986) and manufactured in 1951.
Czech glass was rarely ever signed during communist rule as the ideology did not believe in highlighting the individual. This was true of Škrdlovice glassworks, which had been nationalised in 1948 (formally known as Beránek). This piece would have originally been labelled.
This vase is in excellent vintage condition with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration.
