18k Gold & Ethical Sapphire Ring by Bernhard Hertz, Denmark

Turn heads with this stunning Modernist ring! It features solid 14k gold that highlights a gorgeous lab-created purple sapphire. 

The stone is a true testament of innovative mid-century trends! During this period there was a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the new technology to grow gems, in particular sapphires. Many of these stones were treated with as much care and reverence as natural gems. 

Bernhard Hertz (1834-1909) was a famous Danish goldsmith, who established his own company named 'Bernhard Hertz A/S' in 1858. The company continued to produce jewellery under this name until it merged into 'Lund Copenhagen' in 1985. 

This ring is stamped with the Danish hallmarks: 'BH' (designer/maker), '585' (14k gold) & 'Denmark'. 

It is in excellent vintage condition (outstanding for age). The lovely stone has a 15mm diameter and sits firmly in the setting. The solid band retains its original shape well. 

This ring is a small/medium size. It is an AU size L 1/2 (EU 51 & US 6) with an internal diameter of 16.41 mm. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size.

The band can be resized.
