18k Gold & Tourmaline Ring by Ateljé Stigbert, Stockholm
This beautiful mid-century ring features solid 18k gold that highlights a sea-foam green cabochon tourmaline in a raised circular-motif setting. It was designed by Ateljé Stigbert, Stockholm (an offshoot of Heribert Engelbert Ab) in 1970.
Established in the early 1940s by goldsmith Stig Engelbert, Ateljé Stigbert gained acclaim for its distinctive mid-century and Modernist jewelry pieces. Engelbert, like other prominent Swedish goldsmiths of the era such as Sigurd Persson—who also contributed designs to Ateljé Stigbert—received his education in Germany, primarily at the 'Kunstgewerbeschule' in Pforzheim.
The band is fully stamped with the Swedish hallmarks 'HE' (maker), Stockholm motif, three crowns motif (Sweden), '18k' (material), 'U9' (year) & Stigbert'.
This ring is in excellent vintage condition. The stone, which is whole and smooth, sits firmly in its setting and the band retains its original shape.
The band is a large size. It is an AU size R (EU 59 & US 8.75) with an internal diameter of 19mm. If you're unsure about sizing, it is recommended that you measure a ring you currently wear to see if you're a similar size. The band can be resized.
