Handblown Glass Model B1134 Vase by Asta Strömberg for Strömbergshyttan, Sweden.
The model B1134 vase was included in Strömbergshyttan's catalogues in the early 70s while Asta Strömberg was Artistic Director at the glassworks in Sweden. ‘B’ signifies ‘Blomvas’ or floral vase.
The beautiful glass technique is created when the underlay is dipped in hydrochloric acid, which reacts with the hot glass - producing a blue tint and bubbles within the glass. Asta Stromberg designed a special collection in the early 70's using this method with her own designs and Gunnar Nylund's - still attributing some to him.
This lovely example features super solid handblown crystal. The ovoid shaped cavity is wrapped by a web of bubbles - an absolutely stunning effect that is hard to capture in photos. It is signed 'Strömbergshyttan B1134' on the underside and is in excellent condition (outstanding for age) with no notches, cracks, repairs or discolouration.
