Handmade 14k Gold Anton Michelsen Pendant, Denmark

This beautiful Modernist pendant features a sculptural minimalist design in solid gold, reminiscent of a wishbone. 

Anton Michelsen (1809–1877) was a famous Danish goldsmith, who established his own company in Copenhagen that would produce high quality jewellery and silverware for four generations. The Michelsen dynasty had a close relationship with the Danish court, which is why their maker's mark includes a crown above their initials. In 1985, the company was absorbed by Georg Jensen and now only some pieces of silverware still bear the Michelsen name.

Importantly, the pendant is stamped 'AM' with the crown (maker) & 585 (14k gold)'. These hallmarks are clearer to see under a magnifying glass. It is in excellent vintage condition with no dents. 

This pendant will look good on both fine and thicker chains. The chain in the photos is not included.
